Sofia

One of the oldest continuously inhabited capitals in Europe; under Rome it was called Serdica, and the ancient streets uncovered during metro excavation are now displayed in the open in the city centre. Within a few hundred metres an Orthodox church, a mosque and a synagogue stand side by side.
