The intercity rail network is dense and fast; within a city the metro, tram and bus share one ticket. Tickets are bought before boarding and, where required, validated.

Money and cards

The currency is the euro but cash is still common: "cash only" signs are ordinary in small restaurants, bakeries and markets. Always carry some.

Practical notes

Sockets are the same type as in Türkiye. Tap water is drinkable. Supermarkets close on Sundays — shopping has to be done by Saturday.

In an emergency
