The intercity rail network is good and high-speed trains link the big cities. Vehicle traffic is restricted in historic centers; walking is usually the only way.

Money and practical notes

The currency is the euro; cards are common but cash is practical with small traders. Sockets are type L/F at 230 V but some are narrow. Street fountains are drinkable.
